[Draft Guide] 2019 NFL Draft Big Board

by Terry Matthews  |  @Gridironalytics   |  Published January 11, 2019

The 2019 NFL Draft Big Board is an attempt to write an NFL Draft guide that concentrates on blue chip talent and the elite 20% or so of players arriving out of college football.

As such, its designed as a big board of 50 players, all of whom are scouted, evaluated and graded from 50 to 1, to determine an absolute rank and identify how each player matches up in relation to every other player.

Each player profile contains the following:

Player Factfile: personal details, including height/weight, and college played for;

Best Fit: what position/role the player projects as performing best in;

Evaluation: A synopsis and short write-up detailing each player's history, any significant events in their career, what they're good at/bad at in a footballing sense, etc.;

Strengths/Weaknesses: Where a player particularly excels and what he needs to get better at;

Summary: A summation of a player and a projection of his floor and ceiling and how he might best figure in the NFL;

NFL Comparison: What current/former NFL player a player best resembles/compares to;

Each player's assessment is built up from watching enormous amounts of gametape, filtering out all the noise and unhelpful hype (or inaccurate criticism) regarding individual talent, and instead coming to a determination based on what players actually do on the field, and ultimately coming to an evaluation of a player tuned to what the NFL are looking for from different positions, weighted to pure talent as an absolute value.

We think we’ve produced a thorough scouting report for all player’s featured, with the focus on the blue chip and elite 50 players coming out of college giving our draft guide a pretty unique edge.
